The greatest boxer of all time Muhammad Ali has passed away at the age of 74. He died on Friday night at the Phoenix-area hospital where he had been treated for respiratory illness. He has been battling with Parkinsons disease for 32 years, a illness that slowly robbed him of speech and physical dexterity.
A public memorial will be held in Louisville on Friday at 2pm ET at the Yum Center a place where Ali grew up and started his amateur career at just the mere age of 12. Before the service Ali’s body will be driven through the streets of Louisville and will be buried at the Cave Hill Cemetery.
He was a three time heavyweight world champion. A true testament of his strength was indicated by a tweet from his daughter saying that after all his organs had failed, his heart continued to beat for an entire 30 minutes.
George Foreman whom Ali beat to claim the world title also tweeted saying that it wasn’t the rope a dope that beat him but Ali’s beauty did. Mike Tyson, the youngest heavy weight world champion added that “God has came for his champion. So long great one” .
He was known to “float like a butterfly but stung like a bee” which was Ali’s favorite quote.
