NBC has officially cancelled its spinoff series Suits LA, after just one season. The decision comes as the show, which stars Stephen Amell as Ted Black, struggled to attract viewers, averaging only 2.35 million total viewers, making it one of the lowest-rated dramas on NBC this season.
Set in the same universe as the original Suits series, Suits LA revolves around Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor who, alongside his friend Stuart Lane, attempts to build a law firm in Los Angeles focusing on criminal and entertainment law. However, the series begins with a significant betrayal when Stuart cuts Ted out of a crucial merger, taking many employees and clients with him to his new firm.
The cast also includes Lex Scott Davis as Erica Rollins, promoted to head of entertainment following the split, and Bryan Greenberg as Rick Dodson, Ted’s protégé. The show featured several familiar faces from the original Suits series, including Gabriel Macht as Harvey Specter, who appears in a three-episode arc.
The planned Season 1 finale, which will now serve as the series finale, is set to air on May 18 at 9/8c.

While the cancellation reflects the challenges of launching successful spinoffs, it also showcases the strong connection fans have with the original Suits characters, as demonstrated by the return of several beloved actors. This may leave the door open for future projects within the Suits universe, fostering hope among fans for potential new stories down the line.
