Si Woo Kim has confirmed his commitment to the PGA Tour, stating he will participate in the upcoming Sony Open in Hawaii, scheduled to start on January 15. This announcement follows reports suggesting that LIV Golf has attempted to recruit the talented Korean golfer.

In his post on Instagram, Kim expressed enthusiasm, saying, “OK guys, see you in (the Sony Open).” His participation in this tournament, however, does not rule out potential moves in the future, as LIV Golf’s first event of the new season is set two weeks later.

While there were rumors this week regarding Kim’s potential switch to LIV Golf, a representative close to the player denied these claims. The official clarified to South Korea’s Maeil Business Newspaper, “It is true that Kim Si-woo, like many Korean players, has been offered a recruitment. However, Kim Si-woo finally expressed his intention to refuse and decided to remain on the PGA Tour.”

LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil has highlighted South Korea as a vital market for the league’s growth. The organization not only has ambitions to attract players like Kim and fellow Korean golfer Sungjae Im but has also trademarked the team name “Becko East GC.” The name “Becko,” which is officially spelled as Baekho in Korean, translates to “white tiger,” a significant cultural symbol in Korean mythology.

With LIV Golf needing to finalize its rosters by February 4 for the 2026 season, Kim’s decision marks a crucial moment for both his career and the evolving landscape of professional golf, showcasing a commitment to the PGA Tour while navigating enticing offers from rival leagues. As the golfing world watches, Kim’s performance in the Sony Open will be a significant focal point.
