Nick Cannon has recently opened up about his mental health, revealing his diagnosis of narcissistic personality disorder and his journey toward healing. The 44-year-old television host shared his experiences during an interview with People magazine, emphasizing his efforts to understand and manage his condition.
Cannon explained that he has also been diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia, and he considers himself a neurodivergent individual who has pursued treatment and therapy. “I feel like there’s so many labels out there, but… to be able to embrace it and say, ‘Look, I’m healing. I need help. Show me,’” Cannon stated. He aims to be an example for others facing similar challenges.
In a recent episode of his “Counsel Culture Show,” Cannon discussed his narcissistic personality disorder with psychologist Dr. Cheyenne Bryant, describing it as a spectrum that ranges from confidence to extreme cases characterized by a lack of empathy and rage. He expressed his understanding of the condition, stating, “I’ve taken all the power away from the term ‘narcissism’ ’cause I’ve researched it and I understand it.”
Cannon’s comments about his mental health come alongside his reflections on fatherhood and spirituality. He mentioned having “manifestations or even these visions” from God about being a father to many, likening his experience to the biblical story of Abraham. Currently, Cannon has 12 children with six different women, including his most recent daughter, Halo Marie, born in December 2022.
This candid disclosure by Cannon highlights the importance of mental health awareness and the journey of seeking help. His openness may inspire others who are navigating their mental health challenges to embrace their struggles and seek support.
By sharing his story, Cannon not only sheds light on his personal journey but also potentially helps to lessen the stigma surrounding mental health discussions, showcasing that vulnerability can lead to growth and healing.
