McDonald’s has decided to extend its $5 meal deal for several more weeks, responding to consumer demand. According to a memo obtained by Bloomberg, a majority of locations in the U.S. have opted to keep the promotion active beyond its original four-week period, which started on June 25.
The meal bundle will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants across the nation, although the duration of the offer may differ by location, with some choosing to continue it through August.
As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in fast-casual dining, the McDonald’s deal has proven to be beneficial for the company. Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai reported a significant increase in visits to McDonald’s locations shortly after the promotion was launched, indicating a positive reception from customers.
The success of McDonald’s offer has prompted other fast-casual chains to respond with their own promotions. Arby’s introduced a $9 meal deal, while Sonic established a permanent $1.99 value menu. Additionally, Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box, alongside its $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Recently, Burger King stated that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available for a longer duration than McDonald’s deal. In early May, Burger King also revealed plans to introduce new items for its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also participated in the competitive landscape with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo named the “Biggie Bag.”
