“Houston Area Devastated by Hurricane Beryl Aftermath”

Widespread winds and rain swept through the Houston area as Hurricane Beryl made landfall on Monday. Although the storm was downgraded, it caused extensive damage, including downed trees, damaged structures, and flooding. Over 2 million people lost power during the storm, and many remain without electricity as of Tuesday.

“Despite closely monitoring the projected path, intensity, and timing of Hurricane Beryl, this storm demonstrated the unpredictability of hurricanes as it delivered a significant impact across our service area and affected many lives,” said Lynnae Wilson, Senior Vice President at CenterPoint Energy. “We recognize the critical work ahead for our customers who rely on us, especially during the hot summer months.”

On Tuesday, many businesses in the Houston area remained closed due to the hurricane’s aftermath.

As of 11:30 p.m. Monday, CenterPoint Energy reported that 1,830,643 customers were affected by outages, while Entergy Texas reported 235,671 customers without power.
