The Scranton Fringe Festival will host its closing reception, titled Art For All, at the AFA Gallery on Friday, October 4, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
The festival features a special film segment called Taking Up Space, which highlights the work of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, Persons of Color) filmmakers. Additionally, the theatrical show Party Robot will be showcased at Scranton Cultural Center’s Junior Ballroom from October 3 to October 5.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2024, the Scranton Fringe Festival runs from September 26 to October 5, offering a diverse array of theater, music, art, film, and disco events at various locations around the city. This year’s festival aims to promote the performing arts in northeastern Pennsylvania while fostering an inclusive environment for all artists.
Co-founders Conor Kelly O’Brien and Elizabeth Bohan drew inspiration from the renowned Edinburgh Fringe Festival, seeking to provide a platform for local creativity in Lackawanna County and nearby areas. Exciting events this year include the Battle of the Bards at The VSpot, where four local playwrights will have just two days to create short plays, followed by live performances. The Silent Disco on Friday, September 27, will offer attendees a unique experience where music is enjoyed through headphones at the Everhart Museum.
The Art For All closing reception will feature an exhibit that runs from September 20 to October 6, showcasing a variety of artistic expressions. The festival promises an eclectic mix of offerings, ensuring there’s something for everyone.
