Zamir White: The Hidden Gem of the Raiders’ Backfield

As training camps heat up across the NFL, several former Georgia Bulldogs are making their mark, with Zamir White of the Las Vegas Raiders standing out in the running back group. Raiders head coach Pete Carroll expressed his enthusiasm for the diversity in their running back roster, highlighting White’s unique blend of size and strength. “Zamir kind of stands alone. He’s the biggest and strongest of the group and he really runs tough,” Carroll noted.

While White is not expected to claim the starting running back position, which is likely to go to rookie Ashton Jeanty, he is aiming to solidify his role as the backup. Coach Carroll’s confidence in White indicates that he is on track to achieve this goal.

Despite a relatively modest start to his NFL career, where he managed 183 rushing yards and one touchdown over the eight games he played last season, White’s performance at the University of Georgia showcased his true potential. During his final two seasons at Georgia, he excelled with nearly 800 rushing yards each year and a total of 22 touchdowns.

This season presents a critical opportunity for White as he seeks to establish himself further in the league. While his opportunities may be limited behind Jeanty, securing the second-string role could pave the way for a breakout year. For Zamir White, this season represents not just a chance to contribute but also a pivotal moment to secure his future in the NFL, especially as he has shown glimpses of the talent that made him a standout at Georgia.

With the support of fans and his determination, there is optimism that White can rise to the occasion as the season progresses.
