Zachary Levi, the star of “Shazam!”, has recently voiced his support for Donald Trump in the upcoming presidential election. The 44-year-old actor moderated an event on Saturday alongside former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., whom he initially supported before Kennedy suspended his campaign.
Levi expressed his views on the current political landscape, stating, “In a perfect world, perhaps I would have voted for Bobby. But we don’t live in a perfect world. We live in a very broken one. We need to take back this country and make it great again… Of the two choices that we have, and we only have two, President Trump is the man that can get us there.”
The event, held in Dearborn, Michigan, also featured former Representative Tulsi Gabbard, who has also endorsed Trump. Levi shared the reasons for his political stance, explaining that he was raised in a Christian conservative family that instilled in him a healthy skepticism of the government. He labeled Kennedy as the “real deal” and the type of leader he wishes to support.
Levi gained fame for his portrayal of the superhero Shazam, a young boy who transforms into an adult by saying the title word, appearing in two films in 2019 and 2023. His future in the role remains uncertain amid a franchise reboot led by DC Studios executives James Gunn and Peter Safran.
In addition to “Shazam!”, Levi is known for his role in the TV series “Chuck” and as the voice of Flynn Rider in Disney’s “Tangled.” His most recent project, “Harold and the Purple Crayon,” earned $17.6 million at the domestic box office.
The actor has been transparent about his political beliefs, identifying as a Libertarian and noting that different issues resonate with both Republicans and Democrats. In June, he referred to Kennedy as the best candidate in a long time. Earlier this year, Levi sparked controversy with a tweet interpreted as anti-vaccine, stating he “hardcore agree” when asked if Pfizer posed a danger to the world.
