FX is set to bring the classic comedy film “Young Frankenstein” back to life, with a new television adaptation titled “Very Young Frankenstein.” The announcement revealed comedian Zach Galifianakis will take on a starring role, anticipated to portray the iconic character, Dr. Frankenstein. Alongside Galifianakis, the show will feature a strong cast including Kumail Nanjiani, Dolly Wells, Cary Elwes, Spencer House, and Nikki Crawford, all in supporting roles that remain under wraps.
Legendary filmmaker Mel Brooks, who created the original “Young Frankenstein,” is involved in the project as an executive producer. He is joined by “What We Do in the Shadows” veterans Taika Waititi, Garrett Basch, and Stefani Robinson, with Robinson also taking on the role of writer and showrunner. The blend of Brooks’ classic humor with the fresh creative team is expected to breathe new life into the beloved story.
In other casting developments, Kristin Chenoweth has been cast in a multi-camera comedy pilot for NBC, where she will play the role of a woman sentenced to serve as the director of a local church choir as part of her community service. The pilot is penned by Alissa Neubauer, known for her work on “Mom.”
Meanwhile, Nicole Beharie is set to star in a new Netflix thriller, “All the Sinners Bleed,” alongside Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù and John Douglas Thompson. The series follows the gripping story of a Black sheriff in a small Bible Belt county on the hunt for a serial killer, with Beharie playing Darlene, the supportive girlfriend of the sheriff.
