Zach Bryan Quits Twitter After Controversial Kanye vs. Taylor Tweet

Zach Bryan has recently deactivated his Twitter/X account following a controversial tweet in which he stated his preference for Kanye West over Taylor Swift. The situation escalated when he shared, “eagles > chiefs Kanye > Taylor who’s with me” after a night of drinking.

This tweet triggered a backlash from Taylor Swift’s fans, leading Bryan to clarify his comments the next day. He explained that his drunken statement was made while listening to Swift’s song “Thank You Aimee,” which contains references to both Swift and West. Bryan tweeted, “Guys I love Taylor… If anyone took it serious please know I love both artists a lot.”

Despite his attempts to explain, the controversy resulted in him deactivating his Twitter/X account, which remains inactive as of Thursday morning. However, he has stayed active on Instagram, where he posted a lengthy statement in his Stories attempting to smooth over the situation.

Bryan wrote, “For the record guys I wasn’t coming for Taylor the other night. I was drunkenly comparing two records and it came out wrong.” He emphasized his admiration for Swift, stating, “I love Taylor’s music” and expressing hope for an opportunity to clarify things directly with her.

Regarding his decision to step away from Twitter, he noted, “Twitter gets me in trouble too much” and apologized to any fans he may have offended. In further Stories, he praised Swift, calling her “a force of nature,” and confirmed his intention to take a break from tweeting and focus on finishing his tour. He concluded with a reminder for others: “Don’t drink and tweet!”
