Zach Bryan Deletes Twitter After Controversial Kanye vs. Taylor Tweet

Zach Bryan has temporarily deactivated his Twitter/X account following a controversial tweet where he expressed a preference for Kanye West over Taylor Swift. The incident occurred on Tuesday night, shortly after the Philadelphia Eagles’ Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. In his tweet, Bryan stated, “eagles > chiefs Kanye > Taylor who’s with me,” igniting a backlash from Taylor Swift’s fans.

In response to the uproar, Bryan took to Twitter on Wednesday to clarify his remarks, attributing them to a night of drinking while listening to Swift’s song “Thank You Aimee,” which critiques Kanye West and Kim Kardashian. He tweeted, “Guys I love Taylor, was listening to TTPD last night and ‘thank you aimee’ came on and I drunkenly tweeted about Kanye. If anyone took it serious please know I love both artists a lot and think we’re in a really beautiful time of music.”

Despite his apology, the reaction was intense enough for Bryan to deactivate his Twitter/X account, which remained offline as of Thursday morning. However, he addressed the situation on Instagram, sharing a heartfelt message along with an audio clip of Swift’s song “Fortnight.”

“For the record guys I wasn’t coming for Taylor the other night,” Bryan wrote. He explained that his comments were intended as a comparison of their music rather than a personal attack. He further expressed his respect for Swift, acknowledging that he often tweets impulsively.

Referencing his Twitter deactivation, Bryan noted, “Twitter gets me in trouble too much and I’d say it’s best I stay off it. I’m sorry to any Taylor fans I pissed off or let down.” In additional Stories, he praised Swift as “a force of nature” and confirmed his decision to step back from Twitter for personal reasons.

Bryan concluded with a reminder to his followers: “Don’t drink and tweet!!”
