Zach Bryan and Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia have ended their relationship after a year of dating.
The singer of “Pink Skies” shared the news of their breakup on his Instagram story Tuesday, confirming rumors that surfaced the day before when screenshots of what appeared to be his dating app profile circulated on social media. In a turn of events, LaPaglia expressed on her own Instagram just hours after Bryan’s announcement that she felt “blindsided” by the split.
“Addressing something,” Bryan wrote, “Brianna and I have broken up with each other, and I respect and love her with every ounce of my heart. She has loved me unconditionally for a very long time, and for that, I’ll always thank her.”
The Grammy-winning artist mentioned that the past year has been extremely difficult for him, stating he has faced “some pretty severe things.” Ultimately, he felt it was best for both of them to part ways.
“I am not perfect and never will be,” he admitted. “With everything I am and to anyone I let down, I am sorry. I try my best in everything. I failed people that love me and mostly myself.”
LaPaglia responded later, saying, “Hey guys, I’m feeling really blindsided right now,” and indicated she plans to take a break from social media to heal privately. She added, “When I’m ready I’ll be back and ready to talk,” encouraging her fans with a message of love and reassurance.
The couple began dating in July 2023 and made their public debut together at the 2024 Grammys in February, where Bryan won his first Grammy for “I Remember Everything,” a duet with Kacey Musgraves.
LaPaglia had recently dismissed breakup rumors during a podcast episode she co-hosts, referencing challenges Bryan had faced publicly and how those had affected their relationship.
Prior to the breakup, Bryan faced backlash for a since-deleted tweet where he compared Kanye West and Taylor Swift, an incident he later apologized for, claiming he “was drunkenly comparing two records and it came out wrong.”
LaPaglia had also mentioned feeling the impact of this difficult week for both of them, adding that their lack of social media posts about each other had raised speculation online, even though they were together.
In the days leading up to the announcement, LaPaglia shared a reflective quote about moving on from the past.
Bryan is currently on a hiatus from his Quittin Time Tour, which is set to resume on Nov. 17 in Alberta, Canada.
