Actor Zac Efron had to spend a night in a hospital in Spain following an incident at a swimming pool that required emergency medical attention. Efron, known for his role in “The Iron Claw,” is reportedly recovering well after the scare and had recently been vacationing with Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky.
According to initial reports, the 36-year-old actor was on holiday at a villa in Ibiza, a location famous for its vibrant nightlife. He was found in the pool by two staff members from the villa, who rescued him from the water. Efron was then transported to a nearby hospital for precautionary reasons, where he stayed overnight before being discharged the next morning. A representative for Efron described the incident as a “minor swimming incident” but did not provide further details.
Efron, who recently starred in the Netflix film “A Family Affair,” has been in the public eye lately, with photographers capturing him at various events, including a boat outing in St-Tropez and the opening ceremonies of the Paris Olympics. Before heading to Ibiza, he was seen enjoying nightlife on the Greek island of Mykonos with Chesky.
The night before the pool incident, Efron made an appearance on stage with DJ Martin Garrix at the Ushuaïa Ibiza Hotel and Beach Club, where he joined the performer during his set.
This recent health scare comes more than a decade after a serious injury Efron sustained in 2013, when he slipped and hit his face on a granite fountain, resulting in significant facial injuries. Despite such incidents, Efron has expressed that he does not let public opinion affect him, stating that if he did, it would hinder his ability to work in the industry.
