Jewelry designer Kendra Scott recently revealed heartwarming details about country music star Zac Brown’s proposal during an appearance on the TODAY show with Jenna and Friends on October 28. The segment featured Scott showcasing her stunning custom engagement ring, which boasts a striking 3.06-carat fancy pink diamond surrounded by 28 baguette-cut white diamonds, all elegantly set in platinum.
Scott recounted the romantic proposal that took place in July during a trip to Africa. “He did great — he did it all by himself,” she shared with hosts Jenna Bush Hager and guest co-host Leanne Morgan. Brown’s heartfelt words during the proposal, “Baby, it’s the rarest, just like you,” added a personal touch to the moment.
Describing the enchanting atmosphere, Scott explained how Brown arranged a barge lit with lanterns as they arrived by boat. “We got off, and there were elephants on the banks and hippos in the water,” she reminisced, adding, “It was golden hour. I mean, we danced together on the boat and listened to that song, ‘I may not be your first, but I’m your last.’ At that moment, he kind of got down on one knee.”
Filled with emotion, Scott remembered getting down on her knees alongside Brown, both shedding tears of joy. “I don’t even know if we said yes, or what happened. I think I just said, ‘Yes, yes, yes,’ before he even got out ‘Will you marry me?’”
Brown, 47, and Scott, 51, first confirmed their relationship at the American Music Awards in May, with their engagement announcement following on July 24. Scott has been actively discussing her engagement on multiple talk shows, including the Tamron Hall Show.
In addition to her personal milestones, Scott is the founder of her billion-dollar jewelry brand, established in 2002 with a modest $500 investment. As of late, she has taken on the role of interim CEO following the departure of former CEO Tom Nolan in August. Recognized for her incredible success, Forbes ranks her as No. 41 among America’s richest self-made women, boasting an estimated net worth of $900 million.
Brown and Scott’s engagement story resonates with a blend of romance and personal achievement, reflecting their shared journey and the beauty of a heartfelt proposal.
