Yung Filly, a well-known social media influencer and rapper, has been accused of raping a woman in Australia. The British YouTuber, whose real name is Andrés Felipe Valencia Barrientos, faces serious allegations stemming from an incident that occurred after one of his performances in a nightclub in a Western Australian suburb.
The Government of Western Australia reported on Thursday that he was apprehended in Brisbane earlier this week and subsequently extradited to Perth for a court session regarding multiple sexual assault charges. The charges consist of four counts of rape, three counts of “assault occasioning bodily harm,” and one count related to impeding a person’s normal breathing or circulation by applying pressure to their neck.
According to the statement, Yung Filly is accused of raping a woman in her 20s in his hotel room in Perth on September 28, following a performance in Hillarys the previous night. He had performed at Hillary’s Bar1 Nightclub on September 27 as part of his Australian tour, aimed at various cities including Melbourne, Sydney, and Gold Coast.
Yung Filly appeared in the Perth Magistrates Court where barrister Seamus Rafferty SC represented him and sought bail, as reported by the BBC.
Originally from Colombia, Yung Filly now resides in southeast London. He began creating online content as a teenager and rose to fame through his YouTube series “Asking Awkward Questions.” Despite his success on YouTube, he expressed in a 2022 interview with Hunger Magazine that his true passion lies in music.
Yung Filly has over 1.8 million subscribers on YouTube and 3.2 million followers on Instagram. He has hosted the BBC Three series “Hot Property” and participated in Channel 4’s “Great Celebrity Bake Off” Stand Up to Cancer special in 2022. In 2021, he and fellow social media star Chunkz received the media personality award at the Mobo Awards.
