Yung Filly, a prominent social media figure and rapper, faces serious allegations of rape involving a woman in Australia.
The British artist, whose real name is Andrés Felipe Valencia Barrientos, has been charged following an incident in September after performing at a nightclub in a suburb of Western Australia. The Western Australian Government disclosed on Thursday that a man was apprehended in Brisbane earlier this week and subsequently extradited to Perth to face charges including four counts of rape, three counts of assault causing bodily harm, and one count of impeding another person’s normal breathing by applying pressure to their neck.
According to reports, the alleged incident occurred in Yung Filly’s hotel room in Perth on September 28, after he performed at Hillary’s Bar1 Nightclub the previous night as a part of his Australian tour, which also included shows in Melbourne, Sydney, and Gold Coast.
Yung Filly’s legal representation in Perth, Seamus Rafferty SC, appeared in the Magistrates Court to request bail for the rapper.
Originally from Colombia but now based in southeast London, Yung Filly gained fame through his YouTube series “Asking Awkward Questions,” although he has stated that his true passion lies in music. He has expressed a deep connection to his music, stating, “You can just tell I am so in love with it and I understand it to such a high degree.”
With over 1.8 million YouTube subscribers and 3.2 million Instagram followers, Yung Filly has also hosted the BBC Three series “Hot Property” and participated in the 2022 Channel 4 special “Great Celebrity Bake Off” for Stand Up to Cancer.
