Yung Filly Faces Serious Allegations: What We Know So Far

Social media influencer and rapper Yung Filly has been accused of rape in Australia. The British YouTuber, whose real name is Andrés Felipe Valencia Barrientos, has been charged with the crime after an incident that allegedly occurred in September following a performance at a nightclub in a Western Australia suburb.

On Thursday, the Government of Western Australia confirmed that a man was taken into custody in Brisbane earlier this week and extradited to Perth for a court hearing regarding sexual assault allegations. The charges he faces include four counts of rape, three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, and one count of impeding a person’s normal breathing or circulation by applying pressure to their neck.

The incident reportedly involved a woman in her 20s in Yung Filly’s hotel room in Perth on September 28, after he had performed at Hillary’s Bar1 Nightclub on September 27 as part of his Australian tour, which also included stops in Melbourne, Sydney, and Gold Coast.

Perth barrister Seamus Rafferty SC represented Yung Filly in the Perth Magistrates Court and applied for bail on his behalf.

Originally from Colombia but residing in southeast London, Yung Filly began producing online content as a teenager and gained fame through his “Asking Awkward Questions” YouTube series. Despite his online success, he has expressed that his true passion lies in music.

With over 1.8 million subscribers on YouTube and 3.2 million followers on Instagram, Yung Filly has hosted BBC Three’s “Hot Property” and participated in Channel 4’s “Great Celebrity Bake Off” for the Stand Up to Cancer special in 2022. He, along with fellow social media personality Chunkz, received the media personality award at the 2021 Mobo Awards.
