Yung Filly, a British YouTuber and rapper, has been charged with rape and choking a woman in a hotel room following a music performance in Australia.
The 29-year-old, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, was released on bail after appearing in a Perth court on multiple charges related to incidents that allegedly took place on September 28. His bail conditions require him to stay within Western Australia, avoid contacting the alleged victim, and refrain from discussing the case on social media. He has surrendered his passport and is required to report to police daily, with a surety set at 100,000 Australian dollars (approximately $67,400).
Prosecutors objected to his bail, citing concerns that he might flee the state. His attorney, Seamus Rafferty, has not yet commented on the situation.
Barrientos was touring Australia at the time of his arrest in Brisbane, with law enforcement confirming he was extradited back to Perth. His tour, which began in Perth, included stops in Melbourne and Sydney, and was scheduled to conclude in Brisbane.
Authorities allege that he assaulted a woman in her 20s in a hotel room after performing at a nightclub in Perth. His performance at Bar1 Nightclub was marketed as an engaging mix of spontaneity, humor, and music.
He faces charges including four counts of rape, three counts of assault causing bodily harm, and one count of impeding normal breathing or circulation by applying pressure to the woman’s neck.
Barrientos began his YouTube career in 2013 and transitioned into music in 2017. He has appeared on various television programs and was awarded a MOBO Award for Best Media Personality in 2021, recognizing achievements in music of Black origin.
