Youngster’s Joyride: 8-Year-Old Drives SUV to Target!

In a surprising incident, an 8-year-old girl from Bedford, Ohio, took her mother’s SUV for a drive to Target. Early on Sunday morning, the young girl drove a 2020 Nissan Rogue nearly 13 miles, catching the attention of both local residents and law enforcement.

The Bedford Police were alerted to the situation around 9 a.m. when the girl’s family reported her and the vehicle missing. The investigation gained traction when neighbors provided surveillance footage from their Ring doorbell cameras, showing the girl entering the car and driving away.

Despite her young age and lack of driving experience, the girl managed to navigate the roads for about 25 minutes until she arrived at Target. During the journey, she confessed to hitting a mailbox, but fortunately, no one was harmed.

Concerned citizens spotted the swerving SUV and reported it to the authorities, who initially struggled to find the vehicle. Ultimately, Flock cameras tracked it near Pettibone Road, leading police to the Target parking lot.

Inside the store, the girl was located safe and sound, enjoying a Frappuccino. While it remains unclear if she made any purchases, police allowed her to finish her drink before reuniting her with her understandably shocked family.

This unusual joyride has raised awareness about child safety and driving regulations, but the girl is too young to face any legal repercussions. The investigation is ongoing, but thankfully, the only damage reported was to a mailbox. This incident illustrates how a seemingly ordinary morning can take an unexpected twist, particularly when an adventurous child is involved.
