Employees at a Yonkers gas station are experiencing a surge of excitement after their establishment, V&C Taneja, sold three $1 million Powerball tickets on the same day, a rare occurrence according to state lottery officials. This remarkable event took place during Monday’s drawing, leaving the convenience store on Nepperhan Avenue buzzing with hopeful locals eager to get in on the luck.

Store manager Shahid Shah remarked on the unusual influx of customers since the winning tickets were sold. “Everyone is coming by and buying Powerball tickets in the morning,” he said. “They all want to know who won.” Despite the winners still remaining anonymous, the buzz around the store has drawn patrons from far and wide, with many believing that this is a lucky spot.

Lee Park, a spokesman for the New York State Gaming Commission, confirmed that while it’s uncommon for three million-dollar winners to emerge from a single outlet, luck can indeed favor multiple players in New York. He noted that it’s possible all three tickets could have been purchased by the same individual playing their favorite numbers.

This momentous event aligns with the state’s history of extraordinary lottery wins, including a 2023 case in Schenectady where a man won both first and second place prizes on the same CASH4LIFe ticket, totaling $10 million. Yet, the exact frequency of three winning Powerball tickets being sold from a single store remains unclear, as officials could not recall any similar instances.

Customers have been flocking to V&C Taneja with renewed hope. Edgar Gonzalez, a 56-year-old restaurant worker, traveled from Throgs Neck in the Bronx after being encouraged by his wife, while Bronx grocery store worker Wilton Soto expressed newfound confidence in the gas station’s lucky reputation.

With the winners having until October 19, 2026, to claim their prizes, the excitement isn’t just limited to those who won. The main Powerball jackpot, which remains unclaimed, currently stands at an impressive $344 million, ensuring that the thrill of lottery dreams continues to spark joy and anticipation throughout the community.
