Colombian singer-songwriter Yeison Jiménez tragically lost his life in a plane crash on Saturday at the age of 34. The aircraft went down in the Boyacá region of Colombia, claiming the lives of five others, including his manager, Jefferson Osorio. The artist’s press office confirmed the heartbreaking news.
Jiménez was en route to Medellín, near Marinilla, for a scheduled performance. Renowned for his musical talent, he released eight albums and penned over 70 songs, with recent hits in 2023 such as “Vete” and “Aventurero.” His music resonated not just in Colombia, but also internationally, even earning him a spot on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay chart with his 2021 single “Tu amante,” which reached No. 16. This track was notable for being his first and only entry on the Latin Airplay chart, positioning him as a pioneer among Colombian pop artists.
Prior to his untimely passing, Jiménez had ambitious plans for his musical career, including a national tour set for 2026 across Colombia, reflecting his growing popularity. In an impressive feat, he sold out the Movistar Arena in Bogotá not once but three times in 2024, becoming the first Colombian pop artist to achieve this milestone. His determination to connect with his fans was evident as he was preparing for a second solo performance at El Campín stadium in March 2026, a dream he aspired to realize.
Beyond his musical accomplishments, Jiménez made his mark on television as a judge on the popular show “Yo Me Llamo” on Caracol Television, where he assessed the talents of aspiring impersonators.
He leaves behind a legacy that includes his devoted wife and three children. The music industry has lost a vibrant voice, and his contributions to Colombian music will be remembered fondly. His fans and fellow artists are mourning the loss of a remarkable talent who inspired many with his journey.
