Yankees Face New Injury Woes with Jazz Chisholm Jr.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Jazz Chisholm Jr. faced health issues for the second consecutive game, leaving the Yankees’ matchup early once again. In the bottom of the fifth inning on Wednesday, Chisholm was substituted for Oswald Peraza at third base after demonstrating discomfort while standing on third. The Yankees later reported that he experienced tightness in his left groin.

Chisholm’s struggles began the prior night when he had to exit in the seventh inning due to neck tightness following a collision with Royals third baseman Maikel Garcia’s knee after a steal attempt. While there was a moment of tension regarding the play, it did not appear to affect his performance in Wednesday’s game.

A major concern for the Yankees is Chisholm’s health as he had already missed the entire month of May due to an oblique strain, only to return on June 3. His return seemed promising, with a batting average of .360 over his last seven games, tallying nine hits and four stolen bases. He was having a productive game before exiting, having drawn two walks off Royals pitcher Kris Bubic.

As the Yankees navigate these health concerns, they remain hopeful that Chisholm can recover quickly and get back onto the field to contribute fully. His recent performance indicates that when fit, he can be a valuable asset to the team this season.
