Y: Marshals Trailer Teases Kayce Dutton’s New Mission in Montana

CBS has unveiled the extended trailer for “Y: Marshals,” the highly anticipated spinoff from Taylor Sheridan’s popular series “Yellowstone.” The trailer opens with a heart-wrenching moment featuring Kayce Dutton, portrayed by Luke Grimes, as he grapples with the numerous losses in his life.

In a somber reflection, Kayce shares, “I fought every day to get out of the weight of Yellowstone. I’ve lost my teammates, my parents, even my brothers.” His anguish is accentuated as he places a hand on a tombstone and expresses a desire for a fresh start, stating, “I know that sometimes good men have to do bad things. But I’m trying to find a new beginning.”

The absence of Kayce’s wife, Monica, played by Kelsey Asbille, in the trailer raises significant questions among fans. Her lack of presence adds to the speculation about her fate—questions linger about whether she has died or if the couple has separated, leaving viewers eager for more details as the premiere approaches.

According to the show’s logline, Kayce leaves behind Yellowstone Ranch to join an elite unit of U.S. Marshals, where he utilizes his skills as both a cowboy and a former Navy SEAL to serve justice in Montana. The series explores the psychological toll on Kayce and his team—including characters played by Logan Marshall-Green, Arielle Kebbel, Ash Santos, and Tatanka Means—as they navigate the challenges of being the last line of defense in a region plagued by violence, all while managing their responsibilities toward their families. For Kayce, this includes his son, Tate, as well as prominent figures from the Broken Rock reservation, such as Thomas Rainwater and Mo.

“Y: Marshals” is set to premiere on March 1, streaming on CBS and Paramount+. The series is produced by Paramount TV Studios, with Taylor Sheridan serving as executive producer alongside David C. Glasser, who contributes from 101 Studios. Other notable producers include showrunner Hudnut, Luke Grimes, and several others, while Paramount Global Content Distribution will handle the series’ distribution.

Fans will want to catch the trailer and mark their calendars, as this new chapter of the “Yellowstone” universe promises to deliver intense drama and compelling storytelling.
