Guatemala – The forward analyzed Xelajú MC’s key match against the Nicaraguan club Real Estelí and expressed confidence they can land a decisive blow to qualify.
Xelajú MC will host Real Estelí today in the CONCACAF Central American Cup at the Cementos Progreso stadium, where they could seal their advancement to the next round. Pedro Báez spoke about what’s at stake and the support from the fans.
“We are happy about this match against Real Estelí because it will be complicated, difficult, one of the best in Central America, but we are prepared to compete in this key game for us,” he said.
On the team’s performance, he added: “Thanks to God we are doing well; we have already won the first games of the Central American Cup, we are all united, we’re doing a good job and we have to seal this game tomorrow to be in the next round.”
“The games have been tough, both at home and away; they weren’t easy even though we won, but the coach made a great plan and that was shown in the results. We’ve been decisive and have managed to do well so far,” he added.
Regarding the training camp in the capital, Báez noted: “The management did a great job. It was hard to stay in the capital these days to rest and avoid long travel, but it’s paying off. Locally we’re not doing well, but we can recover and now we’re focused on the Central American Cup.”
“I’m happy in Xela, grateful to the people who have always supported me, and I try to give back with my work, with goals, and I’m happy because the team is also responding internationally, so we hope to bring another joy,” he concluded.
