Wuthering Heights Reimagined: Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi Join Emerald Fennell’s Vision

Emerald Fennell, an Academy Award winner, is generating excitement with her upcoming adaptation of “Wuthering Heights,” featuring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi in the lead roles of Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff.

The project is being produced by MRC in collaboration with LuckyChap Productions, co-founded by Robbie. Fennell will write, direct, and produce the film, which is based on Emily Brontë’s timeless romance novel. This marks the third partnership between Fennell and LuckyChap, following the success of their previous films, “Promising Young Woman,” which earned Fennell an Oscar for best original screenplay, and the recent release “Saltburn.” Fennell also had a role in the billion-dollar blockbuster “Barbie,” which Robbie produced and starred in.

Currently in pre-production, “Wuthering Heights” is scheduled to begin filming in the U.K. in 2025. Fennell first revealed her plans for this adaptation in July through a social media post quoting a line from Brontë’s novel.

The involvement of Robbie and Elordi marks a reunion of key players from “Saltburn.” Barry Keoghan, who played a major role in that film, has expressed interest in joining Fennell’s new project, highlighting his admiration for the director’s work.

Robbie has praised Fennell’s storytelling abilities, noting her skill in creating immersive worlds and compelling narratives. Despite not having appeared in a film by Fennell until now, Robbie acknowledged the strong roles taken by others in their earlier collaborations.

As for upcoming projects, Robbie stars in “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey,” set for release in May 2025. Meanwhile, LuckyChap’s latest film, “My Old Ass,” is currently in theaters, and the company has also ventured into live theater with an off-Broadway production. Elordi, fresh off his success as Elvis Presley in Sofia Coppola’s “Priscilla,” will next be seen in “The Narrow Road to the Deep North” and Guillermo del Toro’s “Frankenstein.”

Robbie is represented by multiple agencies, including Entertainment 360 and CAA, while Elordi is with Gersh and Fennell is represented by UTA and Entertainment 360. The news of Robbie, Elordi, and LuckyChap’s involvement was first reported by Deadline.
