Wrexham is setting its sights on the Premier League as the club aims for a remarkable fourth consecutive promotion during the upcoming season. The chances of achieving this feat, however, greatly depend on their performance in the EFL Championship playoffs.

Prior to the start of the 2025–26 campaign, many observers underestimated Phil Parkinson’s team, which had only recently risen from the National League. Despite a challenging beginning to the season, Wrexham gradually climbed the Championship standings and found themselves contending for a playoff spot. However, recent draws against Millwall and Bristol City have slowed their momentum.

Opta’s supercomputer has provided insights into Wrexham’s playoff ambitions this season. As it currently stands, Wrexham, along with other teams like Ipswich Town, Millwall, Hull City, and Southampton, is vying for one of the playoff positions that lead to potential promotion to the Premier League.

In the latest Championship table, Wrexham occupies eighth place with 48 points, trailing close behind Derby County and just a few points short of Southampton, who is projected to secure the final playoff position with approximately 68 points. Despite being on the cusp of the playoff spots, Wrexham’s chances of gaining entry remain significant, as the supercomputer suggests a 20.86% likelihood of making the playoffs.

However, Wrexham faces a daunting task if they do qualify for the playoffs. Despite potentially reaching the top six, the likelihood of winning the playoffs is a mere 0.14%, indicating that even a successful run into the postseason would still pose substantial challenges.

As Wrexham works to solidify their place among the Championship elite, there remains a glimmer of hope for the club and its supporters. With determination and strategic play, the Red Dragons can not only aspire to secure a playoff position but also continue their upward trajectory in English football. Fans remain optimistic that the club can turn its dreams of Premier League football into reality in the seasons to come.
