Pro wrestling icon Sid Eudy, celebrated for his sizable physique and commanding presence during the 1990s, has passed away at the age of 63, as confirmed by the coroner of Crittenden County, Arkansas. Eudy resided in Marion, a suburb located 12 miles west of downtown Memphis, Tennessee, with his wife, Sabrina Estes Eudy. His son, Gunnar, announced the news of his father’s death on social media, revealing that Eudy had been battling cancer for several years.
Known in the wrestling world as Sycho Sid and Sid Vicious, Eudy held multiple championships throughout his career, including the WWF championship twice, the WCW world heavyweight championship twice, and the USWA unified world heavyweight championship twice, as noted in his IMDb biography.
Eudy’s career thrived mainly in the 1990s, a period that saw a surge in pro wrestling’s popularity. He headlined numerous pay-per-view events for both WWF and WCW, including notable WrestleMania events in 1992 and 1997, as well as WCW’s Starrcade in 2000.
Standing at 6 feet, 9 inches tall, Eudy was known for both his physical prowess and theatrical flair. His WWE biography described him as one of the most fearsome Superstars in the industry, highlighting the intensity he brought to the ring and the legendary foes he faced, including Shawn Michaels, Hulk Hogan, and Bret ‘Hit Man’ Hart.
Joining WCW in 1989, Eudy quickly gained recognition and by 1991 had made a significant impact in WWE, where he won the WWE championship in 1996 and 1997, earning the moniker “The Master and Ruler of the World.”
Fellow wrestler and Hall of Famer Booker T. Huffman expressed his condolences on social media, stating that Eudy played a crucial role in his career and influenced many wrestlers. “His impact on this business was undeniable, and he paved the way for so many of us,” Huffman remarked.
Gunnar Eudy also reflected on his father’s character, emphasizing his strength, kindness, and love, and noted that he would be greatly missed. Sid Eudy is survived by his wife Sabrina, sons Gunnar and Frank.
