On World Cancer Day 2026, the Gem Cancer Centre at Gem Hospital unveiled Dr. GEM, an advanced AI-powered cancer intelligence chatbot aimed at enriching patient education and aiding clinical decision-making. The launch event took place on February 3, 2026, at the hospital auditorium, where the organization also recognized cancer warriors for their bravery.

Dr. GEM represents a vital advancement in tackling the prevalent issue of cancer-related misinformation, delivering accurate and scientifically validated information to both patients and caregivers. This initiative is designed to enhance patients’ understanding of their treatment options and bolster their confidence as they navigate their healthcare journeys.

The launch was attended by prominent figures, including Sivathanu Pillai, a celebrated Indian scientist affiliated with ISRO and recognized as the Father of BrahMos, along with Saravana Sundar, Inspector General of Police for West Zone, Coimbatore.

In remarks during the event, CEO Dr. Praveen Raj emphasized the urgency of combating misinformation in the cancer space. “Dr. GEM has been developed to provide accurate, evidence-based information precisely when patients need it most,” he stated, highlighting the chatbot’s role in empowering individuals to make informed decisions regarding their care.

Chairman of the GEM Hospital Group, Dr. Palanivelu, underscored the transformative potential of technology in oncology.
