Wood County, Texas, is gearing up for an exciting weekend filled with outdoor family activities. The Wood County Economic Development Commission (WCEDC) has announced that the highly anticipated Bassmaster Elite Series will return to Lake Fork from May 8 to May 11. This prestigious fishing tournament will feature professional anglers competing for the coveted Progressive Bassmaster Angler of the Year award.

Simultaneously, the Lake Fork Family Fest is set to take place this Saturday and Sunday in Yantis, Texas. Following last year’s success, which saw 10,000 attendees, the event is expected to draw even larger crowds and generate significant revenue for the region.

Families can look forward to a variety of activities, including a cornhole tournament, musical performances, a pickleball tournament, and a 5K race known as the Great Dam Race, which is making a comeback due to popular demand. Multiple food trucks will be on site offering diverse dining options, along with wine and beer, although outside alcohol will not be allowed.

Christine Thomas, Executive Director of the WCEDC, expressed her optimism regarding the festival, emphasizing the efforts made to enhance the experience based on feedback from last year’s participants. “This promises to be the best Lake Fork Family Fest we have ever had,” she stated, highlighting that there will be something enjoyable for everyone.

The combination of these events not only emphasizes community engagement but also fosters local business growth, creating a vibrant atmosphere for residents and visitors alike. Families are encouraged to participate and make lasting memories during this festive weekend in Wood County.
