Wolf Pack Host Pacific Tigers in Home-Opener Showdown

Reno, Nev. – The Nevada Wolf Pack (1-0) will continue their season-opening three-game homestand this Saturday, November 8, as they face off against the Pacific Tigers (1-0) at 7 p.m. at the Lawlor Events Center. The matchup promises to deliver an exciting night of basketball, as both teams look to build on their winning momentum.

Fans can catch the game live on Nevada Sports Net, and it will also be streamed on the Mountain West Network and the MW App. For those preferring radio coverage, the Wolf Pack Radio Network (95.5 FM in Reno) will provide commentary by Alex Margulies and analyst Keith Fuetsch, accessible through the Varsity Network App.

Nevada commenced its season with a strong performance, defeating Louisiana Tech 86-58. The Wolf Pack’s defense shined, limiting the Bulldogs to just 28.0% shooting, including a dismal 0-for-13 from three-point range in the first half, allowing Nevada to secure a 34-18 lead at halftime. Chuck Bailey III led the charge with a stellar 24 points, hitting five three-pointers. The team’s collective effort showcased contributions from thirteen players, including Tayshawn Comer with 10 points, Corey Camper Jr. with nine points and five rebounds, and Elijah Price, who dominated the boards with eight rebounds alongside his nine points.

On the other side, the Pacific Tigers came off a resounding 83-56 victory over NAIA competitor Life Pacific. Elias Ralph topped the scoring for the Tigers with 20 points and seven rebounds, supported by TJ Wainwright with 17 points and Jaden Clayton contributing 13 points and eight assists. Last season, Pacific struggled with a 9-24 overall record and a 4-14 mark in West Coast Conference play, posing a challenge as they enter this season.

Looking ahead, Nevada will conclude its homestand with a matchup against Southern Illinois on Wednesday, November 12, at 7 p.m., before embarking on their first road trip of the non-conference schedule to face Santa Clara on November 15. Leading into the season, Elijah Price was recognized as a Preseason All-Mountain West selection, having made a significant impact during his redshirt freshman season at Fresno State, where he averaged 10.5 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.

As the Wolf Pack and Tigers prepare to face each other, fans can look forward to an engaging game that could set the tone for both teams’ seasons. With strong performances anticipated, Nevada aims to ride the wave of their recent success while Pacific seeks redemption after last year’s struggles.
