Numerous schools across the region have announced closures for Tuesday, February 17, due to hazardous weather conditions. The following institutions are confirmed closed:

– All schools within the Washoe, Storey, and Carson City School Districts have canceled all classes, events, and activities due to dangerous weather and road conditions.

– Mater Academy
– Pinecrest Academy of Northern Nevada
– St. John’s Children’s Center
– KidsLife Child Development Center
– Sunflower Preschool
– Newton Learning Center of Northern Nevada
– Pyramid Lake Junior/Senior High School has also closed its doors for the day due to the weather.
– Coral Academy of Science is shutting down all five of its campuses. Child care programs at all school locations will be suspended.
– All Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) campuses, including the Child Care Center, are closed for the day, although classes and services will continue remotely via online platforms such as Canvas and Zoom.

In a proactive response to weather challenges, Bishop Manogue Catholic High School will conduct a virtual learning day, ensuring that students can continue their education from home.
