New Hampshire experienced a swift transition in weather as snow and wintry mixes moved through the state overnight. Chief Meteorologist Mike Haddad provided an updated forecast, indicating that while meteorological spring arrives, winter’s grip is reluctant to loosen, with snow accumulating in many areas.

On Saturday, temperatures are expected to reach a high of around 52 degrees, providing a stark contrast to the current weather conditions. At present, roadways, particularly in areas like Commercial Street, are covered in light, yet accumulating snow. As temperatures hover around the freezing mark, caution is advised for travelers across southern regions. The snowfall, which has already yielded 1 to 3 inches in certain spots, is projected to bring an additional inch before tapering off later in the evening.

The forecast indicates that the northern parts of the state, particularly locations such as Dixville Notch and Pittsburgh, will see minimal snowfall, with perhaps only a light dusting. As the storm progresses, a changeover from snow to sleet and freezing rain is anticipated, particularly for southern areas after 7 or 8 PM. Although warmer air is set to move in, making conditions wetter, road surfaces will remain dangerous due to freezing temperatures.

As the storm subsides by early Wednesday morning, lingering slick spots are expected as temperatures remain low. A significant temperature increase is forecasted later that day, with highs potentially exceeding 50 degrees in certain spots as sunshine returns. However, residents should remain alert for low clouds and possible freezing drizzle moving into Thursday morning, followed by another round of wintery weather on Thursday night into Friday.

Overall, while the unexpected march of winter continues, warmer temperatures and clearer conditions are just around the corner. Residents are encouraged to remain cautious while traveling during these transitional weather phases, but there’s promise in the shift towards more spring-like temperatures in the coming days.
