A new addition to the roster helped secure a victory on “Sunday Night Football,” and it wasn’t Davante Adams with the New York Jets.

In his debut with Pittsburgh following a calf injury that kept him out since the preseason, quarterback Russell Wilson overcame a couple of rough drives to complete 264 yards and throw two touchdowns, leading the Steelers to a 37-15 triumph over New York.

The Steelers are now boasting a 5-2 record.

Justin Fields had previously guided Pittsburgh to a 4-2 standing while Wilson was sidelined, but the team chose to return to Wilson, who was originally the starter heading into training camp, as his health improved. Although Wilson struggled with some early throws, he quickly found his rhythm, delivering crisp deep passes and connecting five times with receiver George Pickens for a total of 111 yards.

All eyes were on Adams as he reunited with his former Green Bay Packers teammate Aaron Rodgers. The Jets made headlines by trading for Adams from Las Vegas just days prior, amidst a tumultuous week that included the firing of head coach Robert Saleh and a demotion for play caller Nathaniel Hackett. However, Adams’ first game did not revitalize the Jets’ offense, leaving them with a 2-5 record.

Despite being targeted nine times, Adams managed only three receptions for 30 yards. His addition helped create space for his teammates, yet the Jets struggled to convert opportunities into points, with Rodgers being intercepted twice by Beanie Bishop Jr.

Rodgers ended the night with 276 yards and one touchdown.

On a positive note for the Jets, pass rusher Haason Reddick concluded his contract holdout on Sunday, enabling New York to bolster their defense with a seasoned player who has recorded 58 career sacks.
