There is growing buzz surrounding Cooper Kupp’s possible return this Thursday, but it has been overshadowed by reports that the Los Angeles Rams may trade their star receiver. At 31 years old, Kupp has been a key player in Coach Sean McVay’s system since 2017, yet a Tuesday report indicated that the Rams are reaching out to other teams in hopes of securing a second-round pick for the 2021 Offensive Player of the Year.

After a recent team walkthrough, Kupp addressed the media and responded to the rumors regarding a potential trade before the November 5 deadline. Emphasizing his commitment to the team, Kupp stated that he is focused on contributing to the Rams’ success.

“I’m aware of it, but at the end of the day I’m going to be where my feet are,” Kupp said. “That’s all I know. I have a job to do here, and I take a lot of pride in doing everything I can for the guys in this building and being able to step on the field knowing that I prepared the best that I can. For seven-and-a-half years, I’ve been an L.A. Ram and I’ve taken that approach every single day. And whatever happens outside of that, I have to control what I can control, and right now, that means being the best L.A. Ram that I can be.”

The speculation surrounding Kupp’s future has escalated quickly, with reports shifting from the Rams receiving inquiries to actively contacting other teams. Although it remains uncertain whether Kupp will indeed be traded, the Rams’ current 2-4 record suggests that the team may be contemplating a significant deal involving their top receiver.

When asked if there had been any discussions with the Rams regarding the trade rumors, Kupp indicated that there hadn’t been much communication.

Regarding whether the Rams have spoken to him about trades, Kupp responded, “Yeah, nothing really. No. It is that time of the year; there are going to be rumors and things that go around. Like I said, I try to keep that stuff in the background and focus on handling my business.”

With the trade deadline just three weeks away, the Rams face an important decision regarding Kupp’s future after their next two games against the Vikings and Seahawks. A loss in both matches would leave the team at 2-6, potentially making a trade more likely. Conversely, winning both games could position the Rams favorably within the NFC West, potentially even leading the division depending on other results.
