“Wicked” Unveils Movie Magic: Soundtrack Drops with Anticipated Film Debut!

The beloved Broadway musical “Wicked” is set to make its big-screen debut, coinciding with the release of its official soundtrack. Titled “Wicked: The Soundtrack,” the album will drop on November 22, the same day the film hits theaters, with pre-orders now available. The soundtrack will feature popular songs from the musical, including “Popular” and “Defying Gravity,” performed by Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, who portray Elphaba and Glinda in the film, which explores their unexpected friendship.

The movie is adapted from Gregory Maguire’s novel, which served as the basis for the original stage production that included music by Stephen Schwartz. The film’s cast also features Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Ethan Slater as Boq, and Bowen Yang as Pfannee.

“Wicked: The Soundtrack” will be released in multiple formats, including CD, double vinyl, double picture disc, and digital download. Exclusive editions will be available at retailers like Target and Barnes & Noble, which will offer special pink and green vinyl versions along with alternate cover art.

The film is one of the most highly anticipated releases for this fall season, and it will be presented in two parts, with the second part scheduled for release in November 2025. Jon M. Chu, known for his work on “In the Heights” and “Crazy Rich Asians,” is directing both installments.
