Tickets for the much-anticipated movie musical “Wicked” are now available for purchase, as announced exclusively by TODAY on October 9. The film, which is set to debut on November 22, stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo in leading roles.
In a newly released clip, Grande, playing Glinda, is seen attempting to capture the audience’s attention with a cheerful clap before making the announcement. The clip features various highlights from the film, including Glinda performing the musical’s iconic number “Popular.”
In addition to ticket sales, TODAY revealed that fans can begin preordering the official “Wicked” soundtrack, which will be released in conjunction with the film.
To commemorate this exciting news, Universal Pictures unveiled new promotional artwork inspired by the original Broadway poster. The artwork depicts Grande whispering to Erivo while both are dressed as their characters, Glinda and Elphaba.
“Wicked” follows the evolving friendship between Glinda and Elphaba and illustrates how their lives take different paths after encountering the Wizard of Oz. The storyline addresses themes of ambition and authenticity, explaining how Glinda’s yearning for popularity leads her to embrace power, while Elphaba remains committed to her values, resulting in unforeseen consequences.
