Tickets for the highly anticipated film adaptation of “Wicked” are now available for purchase as announced exclusively by TODAY on October 9. The movie, set to be released on November 22, stars Ariana Grande as Glinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba.
In a promotional clip revealing that tickets are on sale, Grande’s character attempts to get everyone’s attention by clapping and declaring, “Everyone, I have an announcement.” The video features various scenes from the film, including Glinda performing the iconic song “Popular.”
Additionally, TODAY reported that fans can start preordering the official “Wicked” soundtrack from October 9, which will be released alongside the movie.
To celebrate the launch, Universal Pictures unveiled new artwork inspired by the original Broadway poster. The design showcases Grande whispering to Erivo, both in character as Glinda and Elphaba.
“Wicked” explores the friendship between Elphaba and Glinda and how their paths diverge after encountering The Wizard of Oz. According to a press release, Glinda’s quest for popularity leads her toward power, while Elphaba’s commitment to authenticity brings unforeseen and dramatic changes to her destiny.
In a video shared by Universal Pictures in May, both Grande and Erivo expressed their excitement about portraying their characters. Erivo reflected on the meaningful journey leading to this moment, stating how grateful she is for the opportunity. Grande, brimming with excitement after hearing she won the role of Glinda, expressed her commitment to the character, exclaiming her love for her and her intent to take good care of the role.
