STORRS, Conn. – The top-ranked UConn women’s basketball team (22-0) is set to face off against No. 15 Tennessee (14-4) this Sunday at noon, with the highly anticipated matchup taking place at PeoplesBank Arena. Fans can catch the action live on FOX and through the UConn Sports Network from Learfield (FOX Sports 97.9).
Sunday’s game will feature a WHITE OUT theme, urging all attendees to wear white to support the team. The first 10,000 fans will receive complimentary T-shirts sponsored by Aquaphor.
UConn is coming off a dominant performance against Xavier, where sophomore Allie Ziebell etched her name in the record books by making 10 three-pointers and scoring 34 points during a 97-39 victory. Ziebell’s remarkable effort marks the highest points ever scored by a UConn bench player in a single game, shooting an impressive 11-15 overall and 10-14 from beyond the arc.
Additionally, sophomore Sarah Strong contributed 25 points on 10-14 shooting, while junior Ashlynn Shade showcased her versatility with 12 points, six rebounds, six assists, and an astounding nine steals. Sophomore Kayleigh Heckel also had a notable performance, grabbing eight rebounds and providing eight assists. In total, the Huskies capitalized on 48 points from turnovers against the Musketeers.
UConn leads the nation with an average of 24.4 assists per game, marking an impressive streak of 21 consecutive games with 20 or more assists. Notably, junior KK Arnold boasts the top national assist-turnover ratio at 4.75.
Historically, UConn holds a 17-10 advantage over Tennessee, although the last matchup on February 6, 2025, resulted in an 80-76 loss for the Huskies in Knoxville, Tennessee. Remarkably, 26 out of the teams’ 27 encounters have featured both teams ranked in the AP poll, including 23 top-15 matchups.
Tennessee approaches this game following a setback against Mississippi State, losing 77-62 on Thursday. This season, Talaysia Cooper stands out for the Lady Vols, leading her team with an average of 14.7 points per game, while four players are contributing double-digit scoring averages. Head coach Kim Caldwell is currently in her second season at the helm of Tennessee.
