Top officials from the Biden administration recently engaged with Representative Lauren Boebert regarding her backing of a petition aimed at releasing Justice Department files related to Jeffrey Epstein. The meeting, held on Wednesday at the White House, included key figures such as Attorney General Pam Bondi, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, and FBI Director Kash Patel.

The purpose of the meeting was to persuade Boebert to withdraw her support for the petition ahead of a scheduled House vote. Hours before the meeting, House Speaker Mike Johnson was set to swear in Representative-elect Adelita Grijalva, who plans to add her signature to the petition, creating urgency in the discussions. Boebert is one of four Republican representatives who have signed the petition, alongside Thomas Massie, Nancy Mace, and Marjorie Taylor Greene.

As of now, it remains uncertain whether Boebert will change her stance following the discussions with administration officials. Both the White House and Boebert’s office have yet to provide comments on the matter.

The Biden administration’s approach comes in the wake of criticism faced by the Trump administration for its decision to withhold further information on Epstein, a wealthy financier and convicted sex offender who died in jail in 2019. This has sparked considerable debate among supporters and officials regarding transparency and accountability in related investigations.

The situation continues to unfold, highlighting ongoing tensions surrounding the Epstein files and the political landscape involved. Such high-level discussions suggest a significant interest from the administration in controlling the narrative and the implications of the materials tied to Epstein’s case.
