DAMARISCOTTA — Artist Scout Dunbar’s “Views from the Shore” will be showcased until July 31 in the River Room at River Arts, located at 36 Elm St.
Dunbar, a third-generation female artist from Ithaca, New York, earned a Bachelor of Fine Art degree with a focus on Printmaking from Alfred University in Alfred, New York.
Throughout her career, Dunbar has established her art practice in locations such as New York City, Santa Fe, Tucson, and Bremen, Maine. She has participated in numerous national and international solo and group exhibitions. Her works are part of the permanent collection at the University of New Mexico, as well as various corporate and private collections.
Dunbar draws inspiration from both past and present landscapes to create whimsical abstract two-dimensional artworks that evoke a strong sense of place.
“Views from the Shore” presents a new series of abstract mixed-material drawings that convey playful energy and a lighthearted exploration of color, form, and line.
In this exhibit, Dunbar reflects on her experiences along the rugged coast of Muscongus Bay where she has had her studio in a small cottage by the water since 2020. The new collection uniquely captures the Maine coastal landscape that surrounds her studio.
The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.
