Western Colorado is bracing for its first taste of 90-degree weather this year, with today’s temperatures expected to reach up to 89 degrees under bright, sunny skies. The forecast for tomorrow suggests similar conditions, though gusty outflow winds could reach speeds of 25 miles per hour. As evening approaches, cloud coverage is anticipated, with overnight lows settling in the upper fifties.

The area has experienced warm, dry, and windy weather, leading to critical fire weather conditions, prompting Red Flag Warnings in some parts of Utah effective today and Friday. While there are non-zero chances of rain returning this weekend, forecasts remain uncertain due to diverging model results regarding moisture availability.

A high-pressure system continues to dominate the region’s weather, causing temperatures to rise. Although pockets of moisture have resulted in some cloud development over local terrain, the overall dry air remains prevalent. As the week progresses, temperatures are expected to remain above average, with tonight bringing light winds overnight followed by a resurgence of gusty winds on Thursday, expected to range between 20 to 30 miles per hour.

It’s a hot spell for Western Colorado, and while the rising temperatures may raise concerns about fire risks, there is hope that the weekend could bring much-needed moisture to the area. Stay tuned for updates as the situation evolves.
