Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced a revamped squad for the upcoming three-match T20 International (T20I) series against Pakistan, scheduled from July 31 to August 3 at the Broward County Stadium in Florida. This decision comes following the recent five-match T20I series against Australia, which concluded in the Caribbean.
The updated squad features several changes, including the addition of fast bowler Shamar Joseph and batters Keacy Carty, Alick Athanaze, and Johnson Charles. These players have been brought in to replace Alzarri Joseph, Evin Lewis, Brandon King, and Shimron Hetmyer, each of whom is unable to participate for various reasons. Alzarri Joseph has been rested to manage his workload in anticipation of a demanding cricket calendar ahead, while Lewis is out due to injury and will return home for monitoring. Hetmyer and King both picked up side strains during the final T20I against Australia, with Hetmyer ruled out and King undergoing assessment for potential participation in the upcoming 50-over leg of the series starting August 8 in Trinidad.
The selected squad is as follows:
– Shai Hope (Captain)
– Jewel Andrew
– Alick Athanaze
– Jediah Blades
– Keacy Carty
– Johnson Charles
– Roston Chase
– Matthew Forde
– Jason Holder
– Akeal Hosein
– Shamar Joseph
– Gudakesh Motie
– Sherfane Rutherford
– Romario Shepherd
The team management includes Head Coach Daren Sammy, Team Manager Rawl Lewis, and several assistant coaches specializing in batting, bowling, and fielding, along with support staff.
Fans can look forward to an exciting match schedule, with all games set to kick off at 8:00 PM local time:
– 1st T20I: July 31
– 2nd T20I: August 2
– 3rd T20I: August 3
This series offers an opportunity for the West Indies to showcase new talent and bounce back after the recent performances, giving fans a renewed hope for the team as they take on Pakistan.
