Wendy’s is celebrating the 25th anniversary of “SpongeBob SquarePants” with the introduction of a special meal featuring the “Krabby Patty Kollab.” This offering, available at Wendy’s locations in the U.S. and Canada for a limited time starting October 8, includes a cheeseburger enhanced with an extra slice of cheese and a “top-secret” Krabby Kollab sauce, according to the chain’s announcement.
In addition to the cheeseburger, the meal will also include a new Frosty flavor called “Pineapple Under the Sea,” which is a vanilla base topped with a swirl of pineapple and mango puree.
This collaboration seeks to capitalize on the nostalgia of millennials for the beloved animated series and is expected to positively impact sales. Wendy’s reference to their square burgers as being iconic, alongside the well-known Krusty Krab, adds a clever twist to this marketing strategy.
The introduction of these specials comes amid increased competition among fast-food chains seeking to attract diners who are spending less on meals out. Many establishments, including Burger King, have turned to nostalgic partnerships and value promotions to entice customers and boost sales during this challenging market period. The effectiveness of these strategies will become clearer as companies release their earnings in the upcoming weeks.
