Liam Nolan and Daniel Mulligan are looking to make a move at the Danish Challenge, currently sitting at five-under-par, eight shots off the lead. As they head into the weekend, both players find themselves just outside the top-10. Nolan recorded a two-under-par round of 70, while the 20-year-old Mulligan had an impressive back nine, posting four birdies in five holes for a round of 69.
The leader, Calum Fyfe, showcased his golfing prowess at Bogense Golf Club, starting strong with an exceptional first round of eight under par 64. He followed up with a solid performance, scoring five under par 67 in his second round, bringing his total to 13 under and putting him one shot ahead of Sweden’s Per Längfors, who posted a six-under-par 66 to climb into contention.
Fyfe’s strategy was evident as he navigated the course effectively, making key birdies on the tenth, thirteenth, fourteenth, and sixteenth holes. His confidence with wedges allowed him to position himself well despite opting to lay up on longer holes.
“I am really pleased with how things have been going and hopefully that can continue,” said Fyfe. “Whenever I hit the ball into the rough, I don’t feel as much pressure because I can lay up and still make birdie.”
However, it was a challenging day for some Irish players. Max Kennedy missed the cut by just a shot, finishing one-over-par despite an improved round of 71. Mark Power, Alex Maguire, and Dermot McElroy also faced early exits, potentially feeling the effects of unfavorable draw conditions.
As the tournament progresses, the competition remains fierce, and fans can look forward to an exciting weekend of golf as Nolan and Mulligan aim to close the gap on the leaders. Their determination and skill could lead to an inspiring performance as they chase victory.
