Weather Update:

Today will see cooler temperatures reaching the lower 90s, but a heat advisory remains in effect until 9 PM this evening. Fortunately, the heat index is expected to remain below 105°F this weekend, providing some relief. Rain is anticipated later this afternoon into the early evening, albeit with only a 30% chance. Sunday brings even lower rain chances, and hot, dry conditions will re-emerge as we head into the next work week, with possible temperatures hitting the 100s by mid-week.

Reflecting on the past week, the extreme heat continued, especially during the early part of the workweek, with highs reaching the upper 90s and heat indices soaring up to 115°F. Although we saw a slight cool down on Thursday and Friday, temperatures remained above average. The hottest day recorded so far this year was Wednesday when the thermometer hit 97°F in Jackson.

As we progress into the weekend, temperatures are expected to stay elevated, with highs in the lower to mid-90s and partly cloudy skies. Rain chances are at 30% for both Saturday and Sunday. Morning lows will consistently remain in the mid-70s. Despite the ongoing heat advisory, it appears that an extreme heat warning will be absent during this weekend.

Looking ahead, early next week is forecasted to bring back extreme heat, with predicted highs of 97°F on Monday, 98°F on Tuesday, and 99°F on Wednesday. However, there is hope for relief on Thursday when a cold front is expected to arrive, potentially bringing showers and a cooling trend.

While this weekend might be hot and humid, the impending cooldown hints that there might be better days ahead, offering both a respite from the heat and an opportunity for rain in the following week.

Stay hydrated and take precautions as changeable temperatures are on the horizon!
