This weekend is expected to bring significant temperature variations, with a difference of around 15 degrees between day and night, but clear weather conditions will prevail.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, Saturday, the 15th, will see daytime temperatures rise between 14 and 19 degrees Celsius. By 6 AM that day, many regions across the country will experience morning lows dropping to around 5 degrees, indicating notable day-to-night temperature swings. In the inland areas, mountainous regions, and southern highlands, temperatures may even reach below freezing.
On Sunday, the 16th, morning lows are predicted to be between 1 and 10 degrees, with daytime highs ranging from 15 to 20 degrees, which is similar to or slightly above the average for this time of year (average lows of -1 to 8 degrees and highs of 10 to 17 degrees).
The 15th will generally be clear across the country, while the 16th will start to cloud over in the central regions by late afternoon. Dense fog with visibility below 1 km is expected in inland areas until Saturday morning.
From late afternoon to nighttime on the 16th (between 3 PM and midnight), intermittent rain will be possible in the capital region as well as the inland and mountain areas of Gangwon. By nightfall, rain may extend to Chungcheong and North Jeolla provinces, and in the high mountains of Gangwon (above 1,000 meters), conditions may shift to rain or snow.
Expected precipitation amounts will be minimal, with under 5 mm forecasted for Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi, and the western seaside islands, as well as for the inland and mountainous regions of Gangwon. Chungcheong and North Jeolla may see around 1 mm. Frost is possible in many inland areas until the 16th.
In addition, dry weather alerts remain in effect, particularly along the eastern coast of Gangwon, where the atmosphere will be very dry, a condition that is expected to continue in other coastal regions as well.
