Weekend Closure Alert: Key Illinois Tollway Ramp to Shut Down for Repairs

The Illinois Tollway Authority has announced a weekend closure affecting the ramp connecting westbound Illinois Route 390 Tollway to Gary Avenue for essential pavement repair work. The closure is set to begin at 10 p.m. on Friday, June 20, and is expected to last throughout the weekend, with plans to reopen by 4 a.m. on Monday, June 23.

During this period, drivers will be directed to a detour that will redirect traffic to exit at Roselle Road before reaching Gary Avenue. From there, motorists will use Central Avenue to access Gary Avenue while alternative routes are in effect.

To ensure the safety of the work zone, electronic message signs and construction signage will be displayed to notify drivers about the closure and detours in advance. The Illinois Tollway will keep up-to-date information available on its website in the Daily Construction Alert section, and all construction work is contingent upon weather conditions.

Furthermore, additional roadwork will be occurring as westbound Illinois Route 390 over Springinsguth Road will be reduced to a single lane starting at the same time.

Coordination for this construction project involves cooperation with the Illinois Department of Transportation and various local authorities, including Cook County, DuPage County, and the Village of Roselle, along with local emergency services.

This proactive maintenance effort demonstrates a commitment to improving road safety and infrastructure, even if it may cause temporary inconveniences for drivers.
