Elijah Mahi and Dillan Shaw have been recognized for their outstanding performances in men’s basketball, with both players receiving accolades from the West Coast Conference. Mahi, a senior forward from Santa Clara, earned the title of Men’s Basketball Player of the Week after leading his team to a commanding 102-64 victory against Oregon State. Mahi’s impressive stat line included a season-high 23 points, achieved through 8-for-13 shooting, which featured five 3-pointers. In addition to his scoring, he contributed six rebounds, two assists, and a steal, helping Santa Clara maintain its strong start to the season with its ninth consecutive win in conference openers.

This remarkable game not only marked a personal best for Mahi but also highlighted Santa Clara’s best single-game shooting performance since 2017, as they shot an impressive 63.6 percent from the field. The 102 points scored represent the highest total for the Broncos this season, and the victory margin tied for the sixth-largest in the program’s history for a road game.

Dillan Shaw, a freshman forward from Saint Mary’s, was named the Men’s Basketball Freshman of the Week following his crucial contributions in two recent games. Shaw collected nine rebounds, two assists, two steals, and two blocks against Northern Iowa before going on to achieve a career-high 18 points against LMU. His ability to sink four three-pointers, including two pivotal shots in the second half that helped the Gaels take the lead, played a significant role in securing a narrow five-point victory.

These awards underscore the talent and potential of both Mahi and Shaw, reflecting positively on their respective teams and highlighting the exciting competition within the West Coast Conference this season. With multiple weekly awards distributed already, both Santa Clara and Saint Mary’s have demonstrated strong form, setting the stage for a highly competitive conference season ahead.
