The 2024 Boeing Apple Cup concluded with Washington falling short to Washington State, losing 24-19 at Lumen Field on Saturday. This marked only the third victory for Washington State in the Apple Cup since 2008.

The game was part of a five-year agreement to keep the rivalry alive, despite both teams being in different conferences. Fans in attendance saw more purple than crimson in the stands.

Washington quarterback Will Rogers threw for 314 yards and one touchdown, while Giles Jackson recorded eight receptions for 162 yards, including a 31-yard touchdown in the first quarter. However, the Huskies settled for field goals on three occasions inside the Washington State 25-yard line, which ultimately made the difference.

In a final effort, Washington took possession at their own 31 with 3:40 left in the game. Rogers connected with Jackson for a 45-yard gain, moving the team to the Washington State 10-yard line. On third-and-goal, Denzel Boston was pushed out of bounds at the 1, leading to a critical fourth-and-goal situation.

The Huskies opted for an option play to the short side, but Jonah Coleman was stopped for a 2-yard loss. Coleman finished the game with 75 yards on 14 carries.

Grady Gross had a standout performance, making all four of his field goal attempts, a personal best for him. His successful kicks were from distances of 44, 42, 24, and 43 yards.

In the first half, Jackson surpassed 100 yards receiving, marking his second career game achieving that milestone. The Huskies will begin their Big Ten season next Saturday, hosting Northwestern at 4 p.m. Tickets are currently available. For updates on Washington Football, follow @UW_Football on X and Instagram.
